The Midnight Travelers Cambridge Concert reviews
Love the band but the fans are going to ruin them
I'm just glad that a legitimate talented band of musicians is going to be destroyed by their obsessive fan base, which is going to be the destruction of this band with technology and social media. It has turned off other music fans from wanting to attend the shows (myself included) because who wants to deal with screaming, crying girls and phone screens in their view of the show. Don't get me wrong, achieving what music is supposed to do, I'm glad the band is successful and their music is getting out and reaching people. I give credit to the singer controlling the crowd and telling them to put the phones away to live in and experience the moment, but the general feel of the show is annoyance.
I can't imagine the toll it takes on the musicians themselves with obsessive fans wanting a piece of the fame chasing them around constantly. I wonder how this will affect their sophomore album or will it give it grit and direction, with technology and social media. However, they put on a fantastic show because ultimately they are fantastic musicians and showmen. In the last 2 years I've seen them they have continued to grow as entertainers. I am going to wait for seated shows and for when the fad and it appeal wears off. I just hope the band makes it, stays together and doesn't end up in rehab or OD.
